27-year-old actress Nicola Peltz Beckham – Tatler’s stunning August cover star – recently revealed a radical hair transformation to her 2.7 million Instagram followers. The newest member of the Beckham dynasty has had platinum blonde hair for almost 10 years, which has now been replaced with a deep chocolate brunette shade, a similar hue to her natural hair colour. Her adoring new husband, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, is a fan of the look, commenting ‘sexy baby’ on her Instagram post, and sharing the photo on his own Instagram Stories, writing: ‘WOWWWWW’. 

Who is the man responsible for this new incarnation? LA-based colourist and founder of celebrity-adored salon HAIR Los Angeles, Daniel Moon, who has worked with Kristen Stewart, Paris Hilton and Kanye West, among other starry clients. Moon was also the colourist behind Peltz Beckham’s dazzling wedding hair colour, which the bride paired with a custom Valentino gown and timelessly classic beauty look. 

‘Being part of the team to create such a stunning bridal moment for the wedding earlier this year was something I’ll never forget,’ Moon tells Tatler. ‘Our reference for that day was Claudia Schiffer’s blonde, and she even reposted pictures of Nicola from the wedding saying that she loved being the reference – that was an awesome full circle beauty moment. I love working with Nicola because she really embraces the essence of every hair moment that she has. She brings life and energy to every colour that she wears.’ Moon also worked with Peltz Beckham at this year’s Met Gala, where the newlywed sported her usual bright blonde locks coupled with a fuchsia Valentino gown.

When deciding on the shade of brunette, Moon and Peltz Beckham took inspiration from Angelina Jolie. ‘She’s the consummate brunette – powerful, so cool, and mysterious. The way she would work her dark hair with a street style edge on the red carpet was legendary,’ says Moon. The finished result shows a dark brunette that came with cooler tones rather than warm. ‘I’ve been calling this colour “Midnight Brunette”. It has a sleekness to it that gives you instant chic with an edge. Especially because she has been known for a beautiful bombshell blonde, the dark hair is such an interesting and powerful change. Being able to embrace transformation is a powerful quality in a person and I’m excited to see how she tells her story with this new look.’ 

How to achieve such a dazzling transformation? When colouring hair, it’s essential to consider the hair health.
