Virtue® affiliates are special, and it’s not just because they share the belief that gorgeous hair is healthy hair; it’s because they’re unafraid to pioneer, chase their dreams, and get creative. In these features, we love shining a light on each of them, so you can get to know a little bit more about the incredible people who make this team complete.

We asked November’s $500 Affiliate Giveaway winner, stylist & owner of Haven Salon, Megan Snipes, for her advice on getting through the holidays and how to set yourself up for sales success.

How long has Haven Salon been in business? How long have you been a Virtue partner salon and affiliate?

I officially opened Haven Salon in January of 2017 after being a stylist since 2004. Haven Salon became a Virtue partner salon when we expanded to our new location in 2019.

What inspired the name Haven?

The name Haven Salon was inspired by the experience I wanted my guests to have when they were in my chair. A space for them to get away from the day-to-day, relax and treat themselves to beautiful hair!

When did you know you wanted to be a stylist? How did you get started?

I knew as a teenager I wanted to be a part of our industry. After a lot of encouragement from my family, I decided to go to cosmetology school not long after I graduated from high school. I worked an internship while I was still in school and was given a job at that salon where I assisted for a year and then became a full-time stylist. I remained at that salon for most of my career until I decided to go out on my own.

I had always dreamed of having my own salon and creating a space for others to be creative, grow, and do what we love. My husband encouraged me to take the leap and I have never looked back. Over time I have met some amazing women that decided to be a part of my dream and now have a staff of 7 that make up our Haven fam!

What advice would you give to your younger self just starting out?

Give yourself some grace. The long hours and hard work are worth every minute because they are the roots that mold you into appreciating how far you've come.

What is one thing you’re hopeful for in 2023?

We are hoping to expand Haven! Details are coming soon!

What’s one thing you do for self-care during the busy holiday season?

Exercise and try to work in a massage when I can!

Can you share one tip that helped you get referral sales last month?

I always encourage our current guests to share our affiliate link with friends and family members that are not able to shop with us directly, Instagram stories and posts on why we love Virtue, as well as always having samples of our favorite products to share!
